Dr. Racquel Jones, Chief of Schools
The mission of the Department of Schools (DoS) is to work in collaboration with school principals to improve educational outcomes for students. The Chief of Schools provides the vision, expertise, and leadership necessary to support systemic outcomes that reflect the norms, goals and values as set forth by the Baltimore County Board of Education. Effective instruction and rigorous learning for every child in every classroom, every day is the expectation, as reflected in The Compass: Our Pathway to Excellence and Baltimore County Public Schools’ Teaching and Learning Framework. Focused on excellence in learning, accountability, and results, staff from the DoS provide timely, strategic supports to administrators and school staff that are data driven and grounded in research. To ensure equity, engaging instruction and high levels of learning, staff from the DoS serve to continuously increase the capacity of principals and staff members. With the safety and well-being of our staff and students as primary priority, DoS staff model best practices for processes that ensure a positive school climate, equitable practices, social and emotional learning, and excellence in education for all students.
