BCPS students have made gains in performance on the English Language Arts (ELA) and mathematics state assessments for the third consecutive year. 103 BCPS schools saw increases in the percentage of students scoring proficient in both ELA and math. BCPS students made gains on 13 of 16 English and math assessment data points.

Members of the BCPS community are invited to participate in six upcoming community events to learn about and meet Dr. Bill Heiser, the new BCPS superintendent.

The books recommended this week by the Baltimore County Public Library tell the stories of young people – and a worm and a butterfly – all bravely facing challenging transitions: separation, shifting friendships, the end of a school year, moving to a new city, and even moving to the moon.

The summer has just begun and already two teachers have made music history and several high schools have hosted camps to prepare students for high school and possible careers. What's your summer story?

BCPS offers free summer meals for children ages 2-18 through Friday, August 21. Meals are available at public libraries, pick-up locations, and various summer programs.

Off to school we go! It's time to begin the registration process for your child ahead of the 2026-27 school year.
