Members of the BCPS community are invited to participate in six upcoming community events to learn about and meet Dr. Bill Heiser, the new BCPS superintendent.

In one of the books recommended this week by Baltimore County Public Library, a child faces the challenge of learning to tie their own shoelaces and they discover that failures can lead to success. The summer has just begun and already two teachers have made music history and several high schools have hosted camps to prepare students for high school and possible careers. What's your summer story?

In the acknowledgements of her debut novel, Madison Nelson thanks Stacy Drega Swann, her AVID coordinator at Lansdowne High School. A new Beyond BCPS blog post shares Nelson's inspiring story, from a challenging childhood to a two-book deal with a major publisher and a successful career in fashion marketing.

BCPS offers free summer meals for children ages 2-18 through Friday, August 21. Meals are available at public libraries, pick-up locations, and various summer programs.

Off to school we go! It's time to begin the registration process for your child ahead of the 2026-27 school year.
