The Board of Education of Baltimore County officially launched the search for a new superintendent for Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS) on March 1, 2023, with the hiring of an outside executive search firm. The Board approved a contract with McPherson and Jacobson LLC, to coordinate efforts to find a new superintendent for BCPS by July 1, 2023. 

Conducting a national search and identifying the best candidate as BCPS superintendent is one of the most important jobs of the Board of Education.

The search firm will assist the Board Education with critical pieces of the national search process including: Identifying the desired qualifications and characteristics of the next superintendent; facilitating the process for community input and engagement; identifying and fielding a pool of highly qualified candidates; coordinating the interview process; helping the Board narrow down a field of candidates; and advising the Board on an appropriate compensation package.
