Office of Performing Arts Mission

The mission of the Office of Performing Arts is to provide leadership and support for schools in delivering comprehensive, engaging, and rigorous Music, Dance, and Theatre instructional programs for all students in grades Pre-K-12 in alignment with the Maryland Fine Arts Standards and National Arts Standards.

Vision Statement

The BCPS Theatre Program is aligned with the Maryland Fine Arts Standards and the National Core Arts Standards and guided by The Compass. Our vision is to use the evolving, live, collaborative art of Theatre to develop artists and scholars who have a lifelong passion for the arts. Students are given the opportunity to develop their unique voice and collaborate with others through the process of creating, performing, responding, and connecting to Theatre content. Our programs provide opportunities to integrate core concepts of social-emotional learning with high-quality Theatre education that is student-driven.

Fine Arts Pathways

CTE and Fine Arts publish the BCPS Fine Arts Pathways guidance document annually. This document provides course sequences for both non-magnet and magnet Theatre programs in BCPS.
