Employee and Student Hearings
The hearing officer in the Office of Employee & Student Hearings serves as the superintendent’s designee on a variety of employee and student appeals. The hearing officer holds hearings and issues written decisions for the appeals handled by this office.
The types of employee matters, filed at the superintendent’s level, handled by this office are grievances filed by the bargaining units and appeals of various employment matters. Additionally, the hearing officer hears and makes determinations on recommendations for disciplinary actions, up to and including terminations.
For student appeals, the hearing officer hears and decides a variety of non-disciplinary appeals filed at the superintendent’s level. These appeals include, but are not limited to, decisions regarding special permission transfers, residency issues, magnet admissions, and the denial of early admissions to kindergarten.
