October 10, 2022, Community Update: Staff and Community Update: Virtual Town Hall on Safe and Supportive Schools
Please join us on Thursday, October 13, Virtual Town Hall on Safe and Supportive Environments. The virtual conversation for elementary families will take place from 6 - 7 p.m. and for secondary families from 7:15 - 8:15 p.m. Families can participate in the meeting via the BCPS website and the BCPS-TV YouTube channel. You can also submit questions in advance online. We will provide live, simultaneous interpretation for Spanish-speaking families via Microsoft Teams.
During the town hall, the Team BCPS community will learn about the many actions BCPS has taken to ensure student and staff safety, and there will be opportunities for families and community members to ask questions. BCPS is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for all students and staff. This summer, we shared with families our expectations for student behavior in schools and on buses. Schools reviewed these expectations with all students. We also have taken enhanced safety measures, including placing new safety assistants in all secondary schools. These safety assistants focus on de-escalation strategies and relationship building and provide additional adult presence in middle and high school buildings. To provide even greater support for students’ physical, social, and psychological well-being, we have hired additional school counselors and psychologists.
