February 11, 2026 Staff & Community Update: FY 2027 Operating Budget—Board Work Session #2
On Tuesday, February 10, the Board of Education held its second and final work session on the superintendent’s proposed Fiscal Year 2027 Operating Budget. All members of Team BCPS are encouraged to stay engaged and involved in the budget process.
During the work session, Dr. Rogers and members of the leadership team highlighted components of the system’s $2.49 billion operating budget request; explained what salary turnover and fund balance are; reviewed employee rights as outlined in the negotiated agreements; discussed the impact of instructional quality on student achievement; and answered questions from the Board.
The Board will vote on the budget on Tuesday, February 24. Once the Board adopts its budget request, the budget will then be submitted to the County Executive and County Council for approval.
