May 15, 2025 Staff & Community Update: FY 2026 Operating Budget Update: Baltimore County Council Budget Work Session
This afternoon, I presented BCPS’ Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 Operating Budget to the Baltimore County Council. Over the last several weeks, the Council has met with county government departments to review and discuss FY 26 budget requests. I want to thank the Council for their consideration of the BCPS budget and for their thoughtful questions about the work of the system and our ongoing efforts to fast forward student achievement. You may watch the presentation here. The council is expected to adopt a final FY 2026 operating budget on Thursday, May 22.
As the Council reviews the proposed FY 26 budget for Baltimore County, we will continue our efforts to close the funding gap and provide compensation increases for our dedicated Team BCPS staff members. As I shared in the May 9 update, there are additional funds available to BCPS for FY26. We intend to use this funding for employee compensation and are actively working to identify additional options that will help us finalize the FY26 operating budget. The details will be confirmed soon, and at that time, I will provide an update to Team BCPS.
