April 7, 2022 Community Update: Staying Safe and Healthy Over Spring Break

Team BCPS:

As spring break approaches, we want to encourage you to continue to be vigilant and take steps to protect yourselves and your loved ones from COVID-19. This includes getting the COVID-19 vaccine and booster shot. Information about where to get COVID vaccines and boosters is available on the Baltimore County COVID-19 website. Vaccination reduces the risk of severe disease and helps slow the spread of COVID.

We know that many of our staff and students will be spending time with family and friends during the break. If you plan on traveling, please be sure to:

  • Check the COVID rates in the location you are visiting.  If rates are high, be sure to take precautions, like wearing a mask and avoiding crowded indoor settings.
See the CDC Data Tracker for COVID rates in the US

  • Monitor yourself for symptoms of illness.  Avoid traveling if you have COVID-19 symptoms.  If you develop illness after your return, please stay home and get tested.

  • If you are not up to date on your vaccines and have not had COVID in the past 90 days, please consider testing yourself before travel and again when you return.

As a reminder, if a student or staff member develops COVID-19 symptoms or is sick, they should stay home and take a COVID test as soon as possible. Positive COVID-19 tests should be reported to the school . Staff members should notify their supervisor if they receive a positive test. More information is available on the BCPS COVID-19 webpage.

Let’s work together to keep our school communities healthy and safe. Have a wonderful spring break!
