Klein Arias
Grade 9

When did you start singing?
I was always part of music, even at a young age.

When did you become part of your school’s vocal magnet program and the Maryland State Boys Choir?
My dad signed me up to audition but didn’t tell me until the day of the audition. I was nervous, but, with my parents’ support, I was able to overcome the anxiety.

What are some of the most memorable experiences that you have has as a member of your school’s vocal magnet program and the Maryland State Boys Choir?
Being a member of the Maryland State Boys Choir has given me the opportunities to travel worldwide and to share my talents.

Have you won any awards or honors for singing?
I have won awards in school for singing solos, doing All Honors and Junior All Honors, etc.

What performance are you most proud of?
I am most proud of performing at the Lyric Opera in Baltimore.

What is the most rewarding part of being a singer?
The most rewarding part of being a singer is to be around people doing what you love.

What is the most challenging part of being a singer?
Sight-reading can be problematic.

Does singing relate to your career goals?
I’ve always wanted to be a music teacher, and being in the Boys Choir has helped me be the young man I am.

What advice do you have for other aspiring singers?
I would advise aspiring singers to be the best you can be and don’t settle for good; always strive to do the best you can do.

What are your hopes for the second half of this school year?
I hope to maybe try out for the plays and maybe not be so nervous on stage.


Jeremiah Schleupner
Grade 11

When did you start singing?
I started singing in Grade 5.

When did you become part of your school’s vocal magnet program and the Maryland State Boys Choir?
I became a part of the Maryland State Boys Choir about five or six years ago, and I became a part of the Patapsco vocal program almost three years ago.

What are some of the most memorable experiences that you have has as a member of your school’s vocal magnet program and the Maryland State Boys Choir?
My most memorable experiences have been on tours for the Maryland State Boys Choir and singing the National Anthem at the Oriole’s games with Patapsco.

Have you won any awards or honors for singing?
Yes, I have achieved four of the six ranks in the Maryland State Boys Choir, along with being selected as one of the head choristers.

What performance are you most proud of?
I am most proud of the Boys Choir Festival performance at the Towson Choral Festival.

What is the most rewarding part of being a singer?
The most rewarding part of being a singer is the blessing of spreading joy through the beautiful art of choral music.

What is the most challenging part of being a singer?
The most challenging part of being a singer is pushing yourself to the next level.

Does singing relate to your career goals?
I hope to one day get my doctorate degree in music education.

What advice do you have for other aspiring singers?
My advice to other aspiring singers is to accept as many opportunities to perform as possible.

What are your hopes for the second half of this school year?
My hopes for the second half of the school year is to be better than I was the day before.


Bradley Bonham
Grade 9

When did you start singing?
I started singing in Grade 2.

When did you become part of your school’s vocal magnet program and the Maryland State Boys Choir?
I became a part of the magnet program and the Maryland State Boys Choir by auditioning and convincing my parents.

What are some of the most memorable experiences that you have has as a member of your school’s vocal magnet program and the Maryland State Boys Choir?
My Maryland State Boys Choir tour to Bermuda was awesome!
Have you won any awards or honors for singing?
I have won a presidential music award in elementary school and All Honors County Choir this year.

What performance are you most proud of?
I am most proud of the Lessons and Carols because it is our annual biggest three concerts of the Boys Choir season.

What is the most rewarding part of being a singer?
The most rewarding part are the friends you make and the joy you spread.

What is the most challenging part of being a singer?
The most challenging part is how time consuming it can be.

Does singing relate to your career goals?
I would like to get a degree in music.

What advice do you have for other aspiring singers?
I would advise them to never give up on it, no matter what, and don’t let anyone get in the way of it.

What are your hopes for the second half of this school year?
I hope that the second half of the school year goes as well as the first half.
