Why did you join the morning announcements crew?
I joined the morning announcements crew because I thought doing them would be fun and something different.

When did you start doing the morning announcements?
I started doing the announcements when the Grade 8 team leader asked me if I was interested and actually had me co-anchoring the morning announcements on the second day of school.

What is your primary responsibility as a member of the morning announcement crew?
My responsibility is to deliver news in a fun and informative way. I co-anchor the morning announcements with other students who take turns each week.

How do you prepare for the morning announcements?
I prepare by reviewing the information to be shared before going on camera.

What is the most rewarding part of being a morning announcements student?
It is very rewarding when students see me in the hall and make comments about really liking what they saw on the announcements.

What is the most challenging part of being a morning announcements student?
The most challenging part is saying the lines right and not freezing up when I get nervous.

What advice do you have for other students interested in joining the morning announcements crew?
My advice for other students is fill out the application, be yourself and enjoy it.

What other activities are you involved in at your school?
I also participate in Young Writers’ Workshop, Green Club and Student Council. I volunteer in my school library and with my art teacher after school, as well.

What are your interests, academic and otherwise?
I would like to go to high school at the George Washington Carver Center for Arts and Technology for literary arts and eventually become a creative writing teacher and author. I love reading, writing, board games and video games.

What are your hopes for this school year?
I hope to have a calm year and continue to get straight A’s.
