BCPS has had a long and exciting journey towards district sustainability that continues to improve each school year.
1999
- 🌱Western School of Technology becomes first Maryland Green School in BCPS
2012
- 🏫West Towson ES awarded first BCPS LEED Silver Certification
2014
- ♻️Implemented districtwide Single Stream Recycling Program
- 🌎Team BCPS Clean Green 15 Challenge established
2014–2020
- ⚡Completed three Energy Performance Projects throughout the district
2015
- 🥇Dundalk and Sollers Point HS awarded first BCPS LEED Gold Certification
2019–2020
- 🍎Food Waste Compost Pilot Initiated
2021
- 🌿Food Waste Compost Program Established
2022
- ☀️First BCPS solar arrays installed at Berkshire ES and Rossville ES
- 📜Board Policy 3540 – Energy Conservation and Sustainability adopted
2025
- ♻️Facilities Management and Strategic Planning begins recycling warehouse pallet wrap
