Sparrows Point MS and HS - Replacement

Welcome to the Sparrows Point Middle and High schools – replacement project webpage. Please bookmark and follow this page throughout the design process. It will be updated regularly with new information.

Purpose and Background:

The Sparrows Point Middle and High school building was constructed in 1956 on its 35 acre site located at 7400 North Point Road in Baltimore, Maryland. Two (2) additions were added in 1966 and 1972.

The project proposed for Sparrows Point Middle and High school is slated to add needed capacity in the Southeast area of the county and improve the facility to support 21st century teaching and learning.

Current Status:

  • Update as of August 22, 2025
    • This project is currently on hold due to funding constraints. Pre-design work completed includes preliminary Educational Specifications development, investigation into the environmental critical area commission requirements, studies to review possible scope (which recommended separate replacement schools - Middle and High) utilizing the existing Sparrows Point site. The adjacent Karll Trust property was approved as space for athletic fields, while ownership is maintained by the County. This timeline cannot be set at this time and is listed as TBD.
