Purpose and Background:
Scotts Branch Elementary School was originally constructed in 1960, with a Kindergarten addition
in 1976.
The replacement school will provide a state-of-the-art, 21st century elementary educational facility, including added Preschool classrooms in accordance with Blueprint for Maryland’s Future-Early Childhood Education. The project will include increased parking, a separate bus loop, improved student drop-off/pick-up zones, playgrounds, and athletic fields. The proposed design will increase the state rated capacity (SRC) of the school from 456 to 574.
The existing Recreation Activity Center (RAC) located in the center of the existing site will remain
operational.
