Summer 2026 Professional Development

Registration for the Summer 2026 Professional Development Series will open on Monday, April 20, 2026. All interested educators and paraeducators should register in the BCPS registration system. Additional details, including session information, locations, and audience-specific offerings, will be available on the Summer Professional Development webpage in June. All 10-month educators and paraeducators will be compensated at the negotiated rate for participation.

June 17-18 (Educators, paraeducators, and SEL support staff)
Participants will receive early access to BCPS teaching, learning, and content expectations for the 2026–2027 school year, as well as dedicated planning time.

  • Staff who do not attend the June 17 session will receive this information during the morning session on August 25, 2026.
  • Staff who do not attend the June 18 session will receive this information during the afternoon session on August 25, 2026.
LOGISTICAL INFORMATION

Educators will work in assigned school clusters on June 17 and 18 unless otherwise noted below. The Summer Professional Development School Pairing List will be shared when finalized.

June 17, 2026
All staff will register for the Summer Professional Development by the school on June 17th. Staff will explore teaching and learning expectations related to instructional delivery and motivation. Teachers and paraeducators who attend on June 17 will gain early access to teaching and learning expectations for the 2026-2027 school year and will have the opportunity to work in their classrooms during the August 25, 2026, Systemwide Professional Development Day.

June 18, 2026
On June 18th, staff will explore content expectations related to instructional delivery and motivation. Teachers and paraeducators who attend on June 18 will gain early access to content expectations for the 2026-2027 school year and will have the opportunity to work in their classrooms during the August 25, 2026, Systemwide Professional Development Day. Department of Special Education: June 18th, 2026

Special Education content will be presented through a virtual synchronous session. As appropriate, Special Education staff can choose to participate in the Special Education content (an overview of high leverage practices to support special education students) or other curriculum content sessions (ie. Math, ELA, etc.). If unsure about which content to choose, please consult with your principal.

  • If your school assignment changes between the time you register and June 17, 2026, please unregister from the current school and re-register for the newly assigned school.
June 18, 2026 (Assistant Principals)
This is a mandatory training for Assistant Principals. Participants will learn how to use DnA (Data and Assessment platform) to create and administer assessments, find student information, and analyze data with prebuilt reports. Participants are required to register and attend one of the five sessions offered.

June 22, 2026 (Teacher Leaders)
All department chairs, staff development teachers, consulting teachers, educator retention teachers, and central office curriculum specialists and resource teachers should register by May 8.

June 24–25, 2026 (Administrators and Central Office Leadership):
Registration for BCPS Leadership Conference (June 24, 2026) and School Leadership Development Conference (June 25, 2026) is now open. June 26, 2026 (Schools and Central Office staff)
Safe Schools Conference, registration opens Monday April 20, 2026. Participants must register by Friday, June 5, 2026.

PAYROLL EXPECTATIONS:
All 10-month educators and paraeducators will be compensated at the negotiated rate for participation. The current negotiated rate for teachers is $39.49 and for paraeducators is $18.62 per hour. The document Payroll Expectations for Staff Supporting June 17th and 18th details information on attendance and sign-in procedures. 10-month ESPBC staff will not need to use Oracle to clock in and out on June 17th and 18th. They will sign in using a QR code.
