Graduating Career & Technology Education students to be recognized with awards and scholarships

What: The 45th Annual Career & Technology Education Student Recognition Ceremony will honor more than 130 graduating seniors who demonstrated excellence in their CTE programs, which include Business Education, School to Career Transition, Family and Consumer Sciences, Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps, Technology Education, and Technical Programs. The evening will conclude with the announcement of the Annual Anthony G. Marchione Scholarships (named in honor of a former BCPS superintendent).

When: Wednesday, May 1, at 7 p.m.

Where: SECU Arena at Towson University

Background: Daniel Dehn, a College-Career Research and Development student at Sparrows Point High School, will serve as master of ceremonies. Reflections will be offered by the following CTE students: Britany Amaya, an Academy of Finance student at Overlea High School; Ethan Joshua Gonzalez, an Interactive Media Production student at Eastern Technical High School; Kevin Chen, an IT Networking student at Western School of Technology & Environmental Science; and Christina Gambrell, a College-Career Research and Development student at Milford Mill Academy. In addition, two BCPS CTE alums will speak: Max Jemallero, graduate of HVAC program at Dulaney High School, and Colleen Scott, business graduate of Overlea High School.

CTE career preparation programs are sequences of related courses that prepare students with the rigorous academic and technical skills needed to enter the workforce and/or post-secondary education. Virtually all the programs are aligned with courses of study at the Community College of Baltimore County, and some students graduate eligible for as many as 23 free credits at the college.
