Golden Ring Middle School students swap books

"I can’t wait to read this" was overheard more than once as 60 Golden Ring Middle School students participated in a Book Swap on Friday, April 8.

The theme of the event was “Today’s readers are tomorrow’s leaders,” and while they ate their lunches more than 360 books were traded. Books were collected for two weeks prior to the Book Swap so they could be grouped by topics. Genres included mysteries, humor, music, and even children’s books. Some favorites were Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Redwall, and Twillight.

For every book a student brought in, they could pick one out. If they brought in five books they no longer wanted, they left with five new books they were eager to read. In addition to swapping books, students socialized with fellow readers and enjoyed free refreshments and pencils donated by their teachers.
