Regular school attendance plays a vital role in student achievement and long-term success. Students who attend school consistently are more likely to perform well academically, stay engaged in learning, and graduate on time. To promote positive attendance habits and reduce absenteeism, Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS) has implemented a comprehensive attendance initiative. This districtwide effort is designed to support students and families while reinforcing the importance of attending school every day. The initiative includes:
- Targeted messaging, strategies, and marketing materials that emphasize the importance of regular attendance.
- Collaborative problem-solving efforts to identify and address the underlying causes of chronic attendance.
- Enhanced support services are designed to help students and families overcome barriers to consistent attendance.
- Established protocols for attendance notifications and tiered interventions to support students at risk of chronic absenteeism.
