RESIDENCY, ENROLLMENT, AND ATTENDANCE

The Student Support Services connects and identifies students with support for enrollment, attendance, and behavioral services.  Pupil personnel workers (PPWs) act as advocates and work to detect barriers to academic achievement and emotional well-being. To forge home, school, and community partnerships, the Pupil Personnel Worker acts as a liaison between various departments within local education agencies and a referral source to outside agencies and community resources. Some of the most common functions of the Pupil Personnel Worker throughout Baltimore County include:

  • Special Enrollments
  • Conducting home visits for attendance and engagement.
  • Interpreting school policies and procedures for schools, students, and families.
  • Investigating out-of-county and out-of-district residency requests.
  • Petitioning cases to the court for violations of the Maryland Compulsory Attendance Law.
  • Arranging and facilitating intake conferences for students returning from the Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) facilities.
  • Providing case management for homeless students and/or expelled students.
