Application Process
Step 1. Review Application and Admissions Process
• Review Magnet Application Process information below and the Magnet Admissions Process carefully.
• Attend an Application Information Meeting or watch the presentation video.
• Obtain and read Superintendent’s Rule 6400: Magnet Programs.
• Kindergarten applicants - review Kindergarten Early Admission and Kindergarten Sibling Priority policies.
• High School applicants - review information regarding High School Assessments & Academic Evaluations.
Step 2. Select Programs of Interest
• Consider student’s interests, talents, and abilities while reviewing Magnet Program Descriptions.
• Review school web sites and attend the Magnet Expo and the school showcases to learn about the magnet schools and programs. See the Events page for details.
• Be aware of entry grade-level restrictions, geographic location, and transportation availability (see Magnet Program Descriptions).
Step 3. Apply Online
• The online application will be available beginning at 12 noon, Monday, September 8, 2025, until 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.
• Carefully read and follow ALL directions. Complete each section of the application. Only one application will be accepted for each child. Application assistance for multilingual families is available.
• Select up to THREE (3) programs on the application. Mark selections carefully.
• Review application to ensure it is completed correctly. ANY changes in program selection(s) MUST be made online by 1 p.m. on the application deadline, October 21, 2025.
• Print copy of application, including submission confirmation email, for your records.
• High school students who attended non-BCPS schools ONLY - submit required non-BCPS report card(s) and, if applicable, documented testing accommodations.
