August 3, 2026, Staff and Community Update: Back2BCPS—Things to Know for the 2026-2027 School Year

Dear Team BCPS Families:

As the summer break winds down, here are some important dates you need to know:

• Thursday, August 27 – Early Entry Day for Grades 6 and 9
  Students will tour their new schools and meet teachers and administrators. If your child is entering Grade 6 or 9, expect to receive more information soon from your child's school. 

• Monday, August 31 – First day of school for Grades 1-12
• Wednesday, September 2 – First full day of Kindergarten

One more date to remember is Saturday, August 22. On that date, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at New Town High School, 4931 New Town Blvd. in Owings Mills, we will hold BCPSfest, our annual, systemwide back-to-school festival. We hope you and your family will join us for free, family-friendly fun, resources, and information.

BCPS Students Make Gains on 2026 State Assessments

Dear Team BCPS—

Data released today, July 28, by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) shows that Baltimore County Public Schools students have made gains in performance on the English Language Arts (ELA) and mathematics state assessments for the third consecutive year. According to the data, 103 BCPS schools saw increases in the percentage of students scoring proficient in both ELA and math.

July 2, 2026 Staff and Community Message: BCPS Community Invited to Participate in Upcoming “Meet the Superintendent” Events

Members of the BCPS community are invited to participate in six upcoming community events to learn about and meet Dr. Bill Heiser, the new BCPS superintendent. During the “Meet the Superintendent” events, Dr. Heiser will highlight key priorities for the upcoming school year, hear from members of the Team BCPS community, and answer questions.
