August 25, 2025 Staff and Community Update: Welcome Back, Team BCPS!
Dear Team BCPS—
Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year! Today, we are excited to welcome more than 110,000 students to our 174 schools, programs and centers. More than 80,000 students will be riding our buses this morning and thousands of students will be walking to school. It takes all of us doing our part to keep children safe as they walk to school, cross our roadways, and get on and off the school bus. Please slow down and take extra caution on the road as hundreds of thousands of students across the state are returning to school this week.
Team BCPS worked hard over the summer to prepare for the new school year, and I look forward to working closely with the stakeholders of Team BCPS to ensure this is another incredible year of learning, growth, and partnership. For the 2025-2026 school year, we will remain focused on advancing our progress in key priority areas for our system: academic achievement, infrastructure, safety and climate, and highly effective teachers, leaders and staff. Our strategic and continued investments in these areas will move our system forward.
Let's work together to make sure all BCPS students receive excellent education and comprehensive support. You can play an active role in this work in a number of ways, including joining a parent-teacher-student association; mentoring a child; volunteering at a school; taking a Parent University workshop; applying for a job with BCPS; learning more about the programs and services BCPS offers; becoming a business partner to a school; or participating in our community outreach and engagement events.
Our school system is ready, and I know our teachers and students are eager to return. Let’s fast forward together. Have a great school year, Team BCPS!
Regards,
Myriam Rogers, Ed.D.
