Favorite book:

Kindred by Octavia E. Butler

Favorite quote:

“Brains and Beauty” – my Godmother Jacqueline Reed would always say it to me as a child

Favorite movie:

Black Panther, Maze Runner series

“Not only is Khamiya an outstanding student who is held in highest esteem by her teachers, it’s her other qualities that separate her from the rest. Khamiya defines the true image of student-athlete and exemplifies all the qualities and intangibles that any future coach, professor or employer looks for in an individual. She has a 3.8 GPA and is ranked 8th out of her class of 206.

“What impresses me most about Khamiya is her great work ethic and growth as a leader. Through basketball, volleyball and softball, she has learned how to lead others through her words and actions. When she commits to a task, she can always be counted on to follow through and complete the job to the highest of standards.

“Khamiya’s diligence and hard work can be observed each and every day in practice. At 5’5’’ Khamiya has a tremendous amount of obstacles to overcome on a daily basis in her position as forward, however, she accepts her role with enthusiasm, selflessness and tenacity. Never once has this young lady allowed her height to be an excuse, she believes that she can challenge any player on the floor because that is what she has to do to ensure success for her team.

“Khamiya is our voice, our inspiration, our rock. Without her courage and dedication, I am not at all confident our season would have been so positive. She is completely unselfish and always willing to offer positive praise to her teammates when times are troubled. She is a very passionate, committed, and devoted young lady. She has helped tremendously to bring a huge spark into our program; her selflessness will be incredibly missed next season.”

Allyson Sieka, science department, and Jerome Ragsdale, varsity basketball coach
