Celebrating Our 2018 Graduating Seniors

We will be posting a new graduating senior profile each day leading up to May 25, the last day for seniors.

Kevin Jackson

Eastern Technical High School
(Elmwood Elementary, Parkville Middle)

Tell us about a teacher, assignment, field trip, or extracurricular activity that had a significant impact on you during your years as a BCPS student?

My computer science teacher, Ms. Kimberly Burton-Regulski, leads a group of students known as the Makerspace Leaders. When asked to join this group, I happily agreed and found myself surrounded by creative individuals with a positive outlook on education and creating. I have never been happier within a school system.

During your years as a BCPS student, what did you accomplish that you are most proud of?

I am most proud of my AP research project that I have completed throughout this year. My project was the creation of a smartphone application for chemistry that replaces current spectrophotometers on the market. My smartphone application takes the concepts from a $500+ chemistry tool and replicates them for less than $1.

What’s next for you? What are your college or employment plans after graduation?

I plan on attending CCBC for two years and transferring to a 4-year university. I wish to major in accounting to help build upon my knowledge of finances, so I can hopefully run my own business in the future.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

In 10 years I see myself as a man who is financially stable and able to give back to the community and hope to give a fraction of the opportunity and help that my community has given to me these past years of my life.

“For the past two years, I’ve had the pleasure of teaching Kevin Jackson and working with him in our makerspace. Kevin is an amazing young man with endless creativity and talent. He is constantly learning and applying what he has learned to create new and innovative projects. He is a self-starter and independent learner. When asked to describe Kevin, so many positive adjectives come to mind. Kevin is intelligent, responsible, trustworthy, respectful, creative, and well liked. His passion for learning, creating, and excelling will serve him well in college. I feel privileged to have taught Kevin and am looking forward to hearing about his future success.”
