As you prepare to take an online course, it is helpful to assess your learning environment and your potential strengths and weaknesses.

  • Online learners have daily access to a computer with a reliable Internet connection.
  • Online learners know how to use the basic features of Word and PowerPoint.
  • Online learners can surf the Web comfortably to find needed information.
  • Online learners have an active email account and know how to send and receive attachments.
  • Online learners have a support system at school to ensure that there is help when needed.
  • Online learners are prepared to actively engage in all aspects of the online learning environment including discussions, surveys, quizzes, and virtual classrooms.
  • Online learners are willing to work in virtual online teams to enhance collaborative experiences.
  • Online learners are prepared to set up a personal work schedule for completing tasks and stick to the schedule in order to successfully participate in the course.
