Identify Your Learning Preference

making a choice

Knowing your personal learning strengths and weaknesses will help you succeed. This is especially true in an online learning environment.

Your learning preferences are consistent whether you are learning in a regular classroom or in an online classroom. Identifying your type of learning preference can increase the likelihood of success in an online course. Once you identify your learning preference or preferences (because some learners prefer more than one), you can start to predict the types of resources and support you will need.

The three types of learner preferences are visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. Click the links below to learn more about each type of learning preference.

After you have learned about each learner preference, you will be taking an online quiz to determine your learning preference.

Think About It !

Have you ever thought about what types of lessons you prefer most in school?

Do you like reading from the text on your own? Or, would you rather listen to others take turns reading from the book?

Do you enjoy watching a multimedia presentation or video?

Do you like working in small groups or would you rather complete an assignment by yourself?

Your learning preference describes how you learn best!
