Jacksonville Elementary is located in the heart of Phoenix. Serving students in grades Kindergarten through fifth grade, instruction is student driven and individualized to meet the needs of each student. In addition, two Adaptive Learning Support classes are housed at Jacksonville. Resource staff includes special educators, reading specialist, technology integration teacher, as well as para-educators. All grades, except fourth grade, participate in 1 class of art, music, and library and 2 classes of PE per week. In fourth grade the students have 1 class of art, library, and PE and 2 classes of music. Jacksonville Elementary's Ben Carson Reading Room provides a "meadow-like" atmosphere for independent reading.
The PTA is very active and engaged in the school community. Last year over 5400 volunteer hours were clocked. Parents and other family members are always welcome and participate in a range of volunteer activities before, during, and after school. There are several activities available to students before and after school including quiz bowl, green school, live news, and outreach, just to name a few.
