Loch Raven High School was established as a comprehensive public high school in 1972. It is located north of Baltimore City and currently houses 1020 students. LRHS is fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools, by the Maryland State Department of Education, and by the National Association of College Admission Counselors. Our school complies with the NACAC Statement of Principles of Good Practice. Loch Raven has also been designated as a “Character School” by the Maryland State Department of Education. We have been named by "Newsweek" magazine as one of the best high schools in the nation. This is an honor awarded to only the top 6% of high schools in the country. This is the 5th year that Loch Raven has earned this distinction.
It is our mission to provide a quality education in a nurturing environment. We strive to maximize student potential by providing rigorous academic programs that foster life-long learning and responsible citizenship. Students are encouraged to live up to their potential, taking courses at the following levels: Standard, Honors, Gifted and Talented, and Advanced Placement.
