Sandy Plains is a comprehensive elementary school serving the children of the West Inverness Community in Dundalk. As a Title One and Reading First school, Sandy Plains offers a wide continuum of services and supports to children from birth through the fifth grade. Educational programs include Infants and Toddlers, the Aliza Brandwine Center, Prekindergarten, Kindergarten, and Grades 1 through 5. Special education services and gifted and talented programs are offered to children from PreK through Grade 5. Support services include a full time Social Worker, School Nurse, Speech and Language Pathologist, Instructional Coach, Reading Coach, Math Resource Teacher, GT Resource Teacher, Two Reading Specialists, Guidance Counselor, and Behavior Interventionist. Part-time staff includes a GT Catalyst Teacher, Instructional Support Team Teacher, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, and Psychologist. Numerous enrichment and extracurricular programs are available to children before and after school, as well as during the summer months. Before and after school daycare is coordinated through the YMCA. Our school motto is, “Our future’s so bright, we gotta wear shades!”
