Department of School Safety and Security
Here in Baltimore County Public Schools, the safety and security of our students and staff are our top priority.  If there is ever a problem, we will communicate with parents and the community as soon as possible.  We are aware of the rumors circulating on social media sites and in the community.  We want to assure you that we take all safety issues or threats seriously, and work with Baltimore County police to investigate them.  It is important to understand that there are no credible safety threats to our schools and we are taking all proactive safety steps to help keep our students and staff safe.

In addition, please remind your child about the importance of appropriate use of social media.  We ask students not to participate in spreading rumors or inaccurate information.  It causes disruption for the school and takes away from meaningful instructional time.

If you have credible information to share with BCPS or police, please call 911 or The Safe Schools Tip Hotline at 1-877-636-6332.

As always, thanks for your continued support and commitment to BCPS.

Baltimore County Public Schools is committed to providing a safe and secure learning environment for all of our students. Each and every school in our system has safety plans in place for a variety of emergencies and, to ensure that each school continually meets our security expectations, security procedures are reviewed as needed and periodically throughout the year by our Department of School Safety and Security. Schools are required to practice the plans they have in place several times per year so that both staff and students have a complete understanding of what to do should a real emergency arise.

We are also very fortunate to have a strong partnership with the Baltimore County Police Department. Through our School Resource Officer Program and the "Keep a Check" Program, there is a police presence in our schools to provide a safe and secure environment for all students and staff.
