Alliance for Science and Technology Research (ASTRA)
Is a unique collaboration of interested organizations and individuals representing the physical and mathematical sciences and engineering. Founded in 2001, ASTRA is dedicated to promoting better understanding of the physical & mathematical sciences and engineering. Members of ASTRA include leading industries, professional societies and associations, universities and individual scientists and researchers. ASTRA members conduct policy research to educate the public about the linkages between scientific R&D funding and innovation, our standard of living, national security, and economic growth. ASTRA has created 50 state-specific R&D Sheets and 51 K-12 STEM Ed Report cards to help illustrate the importance of scientific research to state and local economies, job growth, innovation, our standard of living, and national security. Effective Access:  Using Digital Resources to Enhance High School Teaching in STEM
This article discusses the needs of educators trying to find digital resources because there is so much available on the web.  The National STEM Digital Library (NSDL) is focusing on identifying what teachers need and making it easily accessible to them.  Also discussed in this article is the problem of the digital libraries not knowing how teachers search for information.  “Effective Access” is aimed at saving teacher’s time and giving them what they need to meet the needs of the students.

STEM Education Coalition
The Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Education Coalition works to support STEM programs for teachers and students at the U. S. Department of Education, the National Science Foundation, and other agencies that offer STEM related programs. The STEM Education Coalition is composed of advocates from over 1,000 diverse groups representing all sectors of the technological workforce – from knowledge workers, to educators, to scientists, engineers, and technicians.
