College and other Post-Secondary Options
ACT – offers information and registration for the ACT college entrance test. (Colleges will consider either ACT or SAT scores in making admission decisions.)
Artsys - Excellent site for students who want to see which college credits transfer to other colleges in the University of Maryland system.
College 101 – a power point presentation about the benefits of beginning post -secondary education at the Community College of Baltimore County                     
• College athletes – This site, Campus Champs, allows high school athletes to search for colleges by sport, state, and division. (Students interested in playing Division I or Division II sports should also visit the NCAA web site.)
College essay – This site offers a course on essay writing for FREE as well as over 100 sample college essays. Click “need help getting started” to get to the free materials.
College search – This easy-to-use site is offered by the U.S. Dept. of Education and allows students to search for a college by geographic region, type of institution, and program of study.
College Board - Information on PSAT,SAT,AP as well as college searches
Community College of Baltimore County – a resource guide that provides an overview of CCBC including information about the cost savings between two and four year colleges, the programs offered at CCBC, the registration process, student activities, and support programs.
NCAA – Students interested in playing Division I or Division II athletics in college must register with the NCAA Clearinghouse. Students may request a paper copy of the form or register on-line with this web site.
Parental involvement in decision making – Popular media is using the term “helicopter parent” to refer to the small percentage of parents who seem to “hover” over their children, making decisions for them and frequently jumping into their lives to “rescue.”  This weblink takes you to a page posted on the College Board website on which parents can take a quick “helicopter” quiz.  The College Board has also included links to several helpful articles on navigating this decision making phase of our children’s lives.
Princeton Review – This site allows students to do a college search using a number of criteria and provides ratings of hundreds of colleges.
Think College Early – Appealing web site provided by the U.S. Department of Education to assist with early college awareness. There are portions of the web site devoted to students, to parents, and to educators.
Think college? Me? Now? - Handbook for middle school students provided by the U.S. Department of Education to assist with early college awareness.
