The lending library at the Family and Schools Resource Center located at White Oak School includes more than 100 books, videotapes, and CD programs related to hearing loss.
The collection includes :
·Hearing
loss awareness: Information for families, schools and community
·Children and youth books related to topics of hearing loss
and technology, as well as books whose main characters are deaf, hard
of hearing, or cochlear implanted
·Sign language books, videotapes and CDs
·Deaf Culture: Art, history, famous deaf people and events
·Professional/instructional resources
·Interpreter skills development videotapes

A variety of assistive technology products used in the home are available
for demonstration at the White Oak Family and Schools lending library.
P.A.T.T. which stands for Personal Assistive Technology Trunk includes
items that promote independence in the home for children, youth and
adults who are deaf and hard of hearing.
Items that are available for demonstration:
· vibrating and flashing alarm clocks
· ttys
· vibrating watch
· alert systems
Items are for display only.
P.A.T.T. was donated by the Youth Group of Towson Methodist Church, Hampton Lane. The Youth Group's contribution is sincerely appreciated.

ASL Collection
The North Point Library has a special collection of 200 American Sign Language videotapes. Videotapes requested from the ASL collection can be transferred to any of the 16 BCPL locations.
Check out historical tapes, information videos and ASL translations of stories and dramatic performances, biographies and classical literature---all signed in ASL.
People who are deaf and hard of hearing can communicate directly to library staff by using BCPL's system called TTY Information and Communication (TICAL).

People who are deaf, hard of hearing or have speech disabilities, can communicate directly to BCPL library staff through the TTY Information and Communication Access for Libraries (T.I.C.A.L.). By dialing the special TICAL number (410-821-5705) on the tty or computer modem, customers can communicate at all 16 Baltimore County Public Libraries.
INTERPRETING SERVICES
Sign language interpreting services are available for pubic presentations for persons who are deaf and hard of hearing upon request. Requests should be made two weeks in advance to the branch that is hosting the program. Cancellation notification is required two days in advance. Interpreting services are available at all BCPL branches.
ACCESSIBLE MEETING ROOMS
An infrared system that enhances sound to attendees who are deaf and hard of hearing is available in meeting rooms at the Arbutus, Catonsville, Cockeysville, North Point, Pikesville, Towson and White Marsh branches.
