Marshy Point
The
Marshy Point Nature Center is one of the newest
facilities of the Baltimore County Department
of Recreation and Parks. The building provides
an exhibit hall, an auditorium for audio-visual
presentations, two classrooms and outdoor decks
with picnic tables. The Nature Center is located
in a protected environmental area and has educational
displays and programs which emphasize the Chesapeake
Bay and its ecosystems. Marshy Point Nature
Center, located on Dundee and Saltpeter Creeks
in eastern Baltimore County, is home to a wide
variety of flora and fauna within the confines
of the 490 acre site. Boasting both wetland
and forest areas, Marshy Point supports a vast
array of wildlife and is in particular, a bird
watcher’s paradise. Trails are being
developed and canoes are available to explore
the coastal forests, marshes and shallow waters
of Dundee and Saltpeter Creeks. Baltimore County
Public Schools bases one half of its fifth grade
Eco-Trekkers program out of Marshy Point which
allows for students to explore the forest and meadow
ecosystems which frequent the Chesapeake Bay region.
