Elementary Science - BioEYES

Baltimore County Public Schools in association with the Carnegie Institution are introducing a program entitled Project BioEYES to all Title I elementary schools. BioEYES is a unique program that introduces the basics of research science to Grade 5 Students. BioEYES provides learning opportunities where students explore, hypothesize and test ideas, make observations, ask questions, and most importantly think critically about the impact scientific research has on our community. The program is designed to give students a highly interactive and hands-on experience with science and scientific tools. BioEYES also is aligned with the Maryland State Curriculum. Over the course of one week, students will be given the chance to breed two adult zebrafish and raise their embryos into larvae (baby fish).  Each day of the weeklong study focuses on a specific aspect of the zebrafish and why it is so useful to scientific research.
