  • ADHD – This website is devoted entirely to ADHD:  what it is, recognizing symptoms, receiving a diagnosis, implications, seeking assistance, considering options, etc.
  • Asperger’s – Thorough overview of Asperger’s Disorder
  • Domestic Violence – Families who are experiencing violence in the home may use this site to find resource information as well as phone numbers and e-mail addresses for organizations that can offer assistance.  The website is provided by the National Domestic Violence Hotline.
  • Domestic Violence –This page lists contact information for domestic violence prevention and intervention services for Spanish-speaking immigrant families. 
  • Food and clothing resources – This page lists contact information for food, clothing, and other basic resources for Spanish-speaking immigrant families. 
  • Gifted – The National Association for Gifted Children sponsors this website.  Articles available on the site cover a wide range of topics, including:  developmental stages, social/emotional needs, twice exceptional, enrichment, advocacy, etc.
  • Gifted – This website focuses on supporting the emotional needs of gifted adults and children.  It includes over sixty articles on related topics and an extensive list of recommended books.
  • Gifted – This website is sponsored by the Davidson Institute.  It offers a number of articles related to meeting the needs of gifted children.
  • Grief and Trauma – This website is sponsored by the National Institute for Trauma and Loss in Children.  It includes links to many useful articles related to a child’s experience of grief or trauma.
  • Healthy Relationships – a visually appealing web site for teens about how to build healthy relationships
  • Healthy Relationships – The Office of Domestic Violence offers a series of questions that can be used to identify whether one is becoming the victim of an abusive relationship as well as suggestions for parents

  • Kidshealth.org - Excellent site for information on lots of developmental, health, and mental health related issues
  • Learning Disabilities and ADHD – This site provides an extensive collection of information about learning disabilities and ADHD.  It includes information about navigating the special education process, supporting learning at home, and working with the school.
  • Mental Health – (MAPS-MD) Families who do not have insurance coverage for mental health services can find counseling clinics and other resources in their community using this website provided by the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
  • Mental Health – The Mental Health Association of Maryland devotes a section of its website children’s issues.  It includes articles on ADHD, depression, eating disorders, self esteem, substance abuse, etc. 
  • Mental Health – The Maryland Coalition of Families for Children’s Mental Health sponsors this site.  It offers an extensive list of community resources, publications, and fact sheets for families.  It would be particularly helpful to families looking for mental health assistance or support groups, for families navigating the IEP process, or for families involved with the Juvenile Justice system.
  • Mental Health – The National Institute of Mental Health provides general information on all types of mental health and behavioral disorders including information about signs/symptoms and medications that are used to treat each disorder.

  • Military Deployment – The Deployment Kids website is appealing visually and offers a number of creative ideas to help children learn about deployment and stay connected with their loved one. 
  • Military Deployment – Provided by the Department of Defense, this website offers useful information about transition and deployment to parents, students, and educators.
  • Moral intelligence –  Dr. Michele Borba is an internationally renowned educator and award-winning author who is recognized for her practical strategies to help strengthen self-esteem, character, and social development.  A number of the articles she has written for parents are available for free on her website.
  • Raising Small Souls – This website provides parent resources on a wide variety of topics including:  communication, discipline, emotional development, motivation, temper tantrums, self esteem, and values.
  • Resiliency is the ability to bounce back from stress or adversity.  This “Resiliency” website offers resources for families who are coping with difficult life circumstances.  It also includes many links to other useful websites.
  • Resources – The Maryland Community Services Locator website enables families to locate resources in their own communities related to:  disability services, food assistance, mental health services, short term housing, substance abuse services, etc.

  • Substance Abuse – Descriptions of each drug and resources for parents from the National Institute of Drug Abuse

  • Talking to Kids about Tough Issues - A national initiative by Children Now and the Kaiser Family Foundation to encourage parents to talk with their children earlier and more often about tough issues like sex, HIV/AIDS, violence, alcohol, and drug abuse.
  • Traumatic Stress - Sidran Institute provides useful, practical information for child and adult survivors of any type of trauma, for families/friends, and for the clinical and frontline service providers who assist in their recovery.
