Department of School Safety and Security

Mission

The Department of School Safety and Security was established to unify the Baltimore County Public Schools’ (BCPS) programs of prevention, response, and recovery in promoting safety and security for the students, staff, and the community. 

  • All BCPS’ schools and offices will be safe and secure, promote well-being, and provide a positive environment for teaching, learning, and working.
  • Improve the safety and security through; open communications, efficient training, strong partnerships, proactive policies, and effective protocols and procedures.

Programs and Services

  • Executive Director of School Safety and Security
  • Safe and Drug-Free Schools provides intervention plans and programs designed to help ensure the maintenance of safe and drug-free schools, including substance abuse, bullying, and harassment
  • Safe Schools – SRO Program –  police school resource officers (SROs) provide assistance to ensue the maintenance of safe and orderly learning environments in all schools.
