The Baltimore County Public Schools Educational Leadership Training and Development Program is designed to support and sustain continuous growth and improvement of results-driven, strategic, educational leaders.. Participants are encouraged to accept the challenge of seeking a richer understanding of educational leadership through a process of inquiry, reflection, dialogue, self-assessment, and application of new learnings. This professional development experience does not teach one how to be a leader, but it will provide a context, or framework, for a collegial study of educational leadership. It is an opportunity for participants to discover and enhance leadership abilities.
Leadership is not something that participants learn once and for all. It is an ever evolving pattern of skills, talents, and ideas that grow and change as leaders lead. To become a leader, participants must first have a clear definition of leadership qualities, a mission, and an honest desire to better themselves by making a difference for others.
There are five developmental modules in the Educational Leadership Training and Development Program. Each module provides opportunities to apply leadership skills to the participant"s work environment in order to reach our system-wide goals:
I. To improve achievement for all studentsII. To maintain a safe and orderly learning environment in every school
III. To use resources effectively and efficiently
The Modules include:
Professional Development for those tenured teachers who demonstrate an interest and involvement in school improvement and who serve as teacher-leaders within their schools
Career Development for those who aspire to administrative/supervisory leadership positions in the Baltimore County Public Schools
