Professional Study Day information for August 20, 2008:
Elementary: Curriculum updates will
be shared in clustered locations for elementary mathematics teachers
in Grades 1-5 on the next steps in implementing the new elementary
mathematics program. The update sessions will occur in grade-level
clusters and will include how to read the revised planning grids and
information on the additional Investigation resources to complete the
integration with the Scott Foresman core basal. The schedule of update
sessions and cluster locations for each grade level and school is on
the attached schedule. Due
to planned numbers at each site, teachers should only attend the grade
level meeting location for which their school has been scheduled per
the chart. Teachers
from Title I schools and 100 Book Challenge schools
that will not be able to attend the PSD activities on August 20 will
have alternate opportunities to receive the curriculum updates. The
schedule for an alternative PSD opportunity on August 19, 2008, is
attached. A list of
the materials teachers need to bring to their Professional Study Day
sessions is attached. Revised 2008 curriculum guides for
Grades 1-5 will be distributed to all elementary schools by August
15.
Secondary: Middle and High School Mathematics Teachers,
both general and special educators, will participate in professional
development at Loch Raven High School from 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM. The
attached flyer will provide additional information on the logistics and
registration information.
