The Office of Physical Education is in the Division of Curriculum and Instruction, Department of Special Programs, along with the Offices of Health Education and Dance. The Office of Physical Education supports the implementation of a Kindergarten through Grade 12 program in Physical Education which complies with the Maryland State Board of Education Regulations. Each elementary and middle school provides an instructional physical education program every year for all students in Kindergarten through Grade 8. Each high school provides a comprehensive fitness-based physical education program that prepares students for a healthy and active lifestyle. This program enables students to meet graduation requirements and serves as a pre-requisite to the selection of physical education electives.
