Requests to Review Position Classification Following a Reorganization

Prior to the Office of Classification review of a position impacted by a reorganization, the reorganization plan must be approved and implemented.
The executive director of a reorganizing department must submit proposals for reorganization to the Superintendent with a copy to the Chief Human Resources Officer. Human Resources will confirm that position allocations align with the requested reorganization. The proposals will include:

  1. a written narrative, summarizing the reorganization plan;
  2. a justification that provides a background history of the issues and an explanation of how those issues will be addressed through reorganization;
  3. charts showing the current and proposed tables of organization;
  4. a list of all positions affected by the reorganization, including their current grade and title;
  5. a list of recommended grades and titles for the impacted positions; and
  6. a summary of the anticipated fiscal impact of the proposed reorganization.

After the reorganization has been in place for at least 90 days, the Office of Classification will review the classification of impacted positions. In conjunction with this review, the incumbent employees may be required to complete and submit Position Content Questionnaires. The review may also include audits of the positions and requests for additional information from departmental management.
