Working in Baltimore County
Our students will only succeed if their teachers do – so
we work hard to provide every teacher with outstanding systemwide
and school-based instructional support.
Prior to the beginning of school, all teachers new to Baltimore
County Public Schools participate in training sessions that introduce
the expectations for students and teachers as outlined in the Blueprint
for Progress, our school system’s innovative framework for
success.
Once in the classroom, teacher mentor/trainers provide new teachers
with intensive, daily, onsite assistance in effective instruction,
assessment, communication and classroom management.
Onsite resource teachers in specialized areas – such as science
and gifted and talented education – are also available to
help grade level teams, departments and individual teachers.
To support teachers in continuing their growth, Maryland requires
that all professionally certificated educators create and fulfill
individualized development plans. In partnership with local universities
and colleges, Baltimore County Public Schools assists teachers in
identifying and pursuing meaningful professional development opportunities.
With more than 160 schools, our large school system is an ideal
place to grow your career. Initiatives like the Aspiring Leader
Program help prepare interested teachers for movement into rewarding
administrative opportunities. In addition, new and current administrators,
continue to grow professionally through the annual Principals Academy.
