In the Beginning.....

• Employee Orientation -- small group sessions are held to explain benefits, Maryland State Retirement/Pension System, and the certification process.
• New Teacher/Pupil Services Personnel Induction Program -- pre-employment days of small group discussions, instructional presentations, information about BCPS and networking; stipend given to participants
• School-Based Orientation -- meetings with new teachers and other professional staff to introduce them to their schools and communities
• Free Notary Service -- located on the Greenwood Campus where orientation occurs
• Interest-Free Loan -- up to $1,000 for new personnel on the professional salary scale
• Apartment Rental Incentives -- waivers of application fee and security deposit, as well as discounts for new professional staff, are available from several area apartment rental services
• Local Bank and Credit Union Incentives -- deferred loans, free checking, credit card with no first year fee, discounts on some loans, direct deposit
• Hotel Discounts -- area hotels offer new employees a lower rate on overnight accommodations
• Certification Assistance -- evaluation and guidance through the MSDE (Maryland State Department of Education) certification process
• Human Resources Specialist -- available to offer assistance in getting settled, locating apartments, connecting with roommates, getting acquainted with Baltimore metropolitan area
