We are pleased to enclose an employment application. Providing quality education for the students of Baltimore County is the most important mission of the Department of Personnel. This can only be accomplished by identifying and hiring outstanding teacher candidates. To help us in this effort, we need the following documents :
References: References should be obtained from those who have firsthand knowledge of your scholarship, teaching ability, and other qualifications . If you are a beginning teacher, your college supervisor and cooperating teacher(s) must be included. Experienced teachers must include their most recent principals. It is your responsibility to furnish the appropriate individuals with the enclosed envelopes and reference forms. Be sure to print your name, social security number, and the type of teaching position you are seeking (subject area, elementary classroom, early childhood, etc.) at the top of each yellow reference form before forwarding to your reference . You may want to consider placing stamps on the envelopes . It is also important to print/type your subject area on the outside of the return envelope(s) you are providing for your references. Please instruct the individuals to mail the completed forms directly to our office in the envelopes provided.
To be considered for employment with Baltimore County Public Schools, you must be certified or eligible for certification by the Maryland State Department of Education . One of Maryland's requirements for applicants who have taught less than two years and have not held a valid certificate, is the need to present qualifying scores for appropriate national tests. If you have any questions regarding certification requirements in Maryland, contact:
The Maryland State Department of Education
200 West Baltimore Street
Baltimore, Maryland 21201
(410) 767-0412
Please submit this application at your earliest convenience . Applying early can be to your advantage. The application does not need to be typed. Placement files are helpful but will not serve in lieu of the enclosed yellow reference forms. Please encourage your references to return the yellow forms as soon as possible. Your transcripts and PRAXIS scores should be sent to us as they become available to you, but please do not let the availability of those items deter you from sending your application promptly. Thank you for your interest in the Baltimore County Public Schools .
