Educational Leadership Training and
Development Program
Key Strategy
Provide differentiated professional development
for all personnel that is aligned with system goals,
focused on research-based practices, and designed to
increase the quality of programs and services.
Program Goals
Aspiring Leader Module: Upon completion
of the module, participants will demonstrate an understanding
of specific leadership behaviors consistent with the
Vision of Baltimore County Public Schools, clearly articulate
the importance of quality student work, be able to create
quality student work for their students, and understand
compliance needs in the school system. This module is
offered twice during the school year.
Administrative and Induction Support
Program (New and Experienced Leaders): Upon completion
of the module(s), participants will consistently model
effective leadership which invites, motivates, and collaboratively
involves all stakeholders in the achievement of the
system's mission, beliefs, and goals; identify factors
that impact student achievement by collecting and analyzing
all related statistical and perceptual data; create,
implement, and evaluate a strategic, results-driven
process for improving student achievement; and implement
mandatory procedures which comply with local, state,
and federal regulations.
Program Description and Sequence
Building leadership capacity to establish and maintain
a future orientation, establish and maintain direction
and focus, and establish and maintain strategic action
is critical to achieving our Systemwide Goals,
the Vision, and Mission as stated in the
Blueprint for Progress. The Baltimore County
Public Schools Educational Leadership Training and Development
Program is designed to build leadership capacity with
classroom teachers, newly appointed assistant principals
and principals, and experienced principals. It supports
and sustains continuous growth and improvement of results-driven,
strategic, educational leaders.
The Educational Leadership Training and Development
Program provides opportunities to apply leadership skills
to the Vision and Mission of the Blueprint for Progress
and to assist schools in achieving the Indicators of
Progress.
Aspiring Leaders
Participants will explore career development
as they learn that leadership is an ever evolving pattern
of skills, talents, and ideas that grow and change as
leaders lead. To be a leader, participants must have
a clear definition of leadership qualities, a mission,
and an honest desire to better themselves by making
a difference for students, teachers, parents and the
greater community.
Administrative Induction and Support
Program
Participants will be supported by a training program
in their roles as newly appointed administrators. Sustaining
continuous growth and improvement of results-driven,
strategic, educational leaders builds leadership capacity.
Administrative mentors are assigned to assist and support
participants in this process.
Leadership Enhancement
Continuing professional development for
administrative/supervisory personnel of the Baltimore
County Public Schools is ongoing. There are opportunities
to learn from nationally known educational leaders,
other experts, and internal professional development
initiatives. Leadership capacity is built to establish
and maintain a future orientation, establish and maintain
direction and focus, and establish and maintain strategic
action in accordance with the Systemwide Goals,
the Vision, and Mission as stated in the
Blueprint for Progress.
