Visual & Graphic Arts
The Visual Arts programs emphasize creative and critical thinking abilities of students through problem solving as they explore the many facets of the world of art. In addition to the development of skills in the areas of drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, and ceramics, some schools incorporate computer graphics and photography to expand students’ design capabilities.
Students are encouraged and assisted in the development of portfolios that they may use to audition for high school magnet art programs. In Grade 8, students may earn high school credit and fulfill a required course for Maryland State Graduation by successfully passing the Fine Arts exam and portfolio review.
