High School Programs

Computer Networking and Computer Management

Network Administration and Design: An applied science/math/electronics program that emphasizes computer equipment networking and troubleshooting. The program uses the power and speed of computer-based learning to create a powerful teaching system that allows students to advance rapidly through course material. Computer-aided troubleshooting and instruction is integrated into the learning process. The program is also an approved Cisco Networking Academy and those who successfully complete the course are eligible to take the Cisco Certified Network Associate examination.

Computer Systems/Networking Technician: A comprehensive program covering computer system service, maintenance, installation, networking and construction. Using dedicated computer systems, students complete theory and practical exercises in basic, digital, microprocessor, and microcomputer electronics. Moving through a series of computer modules, students build a solid foundation with a constant focus directed towards the repair of computer systems, network installation, and software troubleshooting skills, A sequence of mathematics, science, and English skills is an integral part of the program. The goal of the program is to provide students with the skills and knowledge needed to enter into the field of computer office systems repair.
Students will be provided the training required to sit for the A+ and Windows 2000 Professional Server and Advanced Server of the Microsoft™ Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) certification examinations.

Computer Repair – Students learn and apply hands-on techniques of computer repair, repair of BCPS computers and peripherals, operate the Chesapeake “Help Desk”, and construct cabling mock-ups. Internships are available for students who choose this career pathway.
