Culinary Arts and Restaurant Management: The Culinary Arts and Restaurant Management program provides students with a challenging and diverse curriculum in one of the world’s fastest growing fields. Students explore job opportunities and career pathways included in the food service industry by utilizing the ProStart program developed by the National Restaurant Association Education Foundation. They receive instruction in basic food and bakeshop production, nutrition, and management training. Computer technology is integrated through purchasing, food cost analysis, and inventory control. Service skills, human relations, and menu development are included in the restaurant management curriculum. Students completing the sanitation course successfully will qualify to take the Safe-Serve examination for national certification. Additional practical experience is gained through various banquet and buffet production, as well as community involvement. Post-secondary advancement is available with culinary colleges and universities, apprenticeship and community college pathways.
