Academy of Health and Human Services
This program offers students and opportunity to develop their interests and talents in Education and Training, Legal and Protective Services, and Therapeutic and Diagnostic Services.
Education and Training – The program allows students to get an early start on their teaching careers, improving their existing skills and talents while exposing them to the joys and challenges of a teaching career. The program will provide an academic based pre-university curriculum for prospective student educators, as well as preliminary training for those interested in preschool career fields. Students will explore issues related to Communications in Education; Teaching as a Career; Issues in Education; Methods of Teaching; Child Development and Learning; and Management in Teaching. This program will prepare students to gain entry into highly competitive education degree programs at post-secondary institutions.
Legal and Protective Services – The program introduces students to topics in law and public policy, while helping students develop strong communication skills. Coursework emphasizes technology and student research. Students may participate in field experiences, job shadowing, and internship opportunities in forensic science, law, and government professions. Upon completion of the program, students are prepared to enter the fields of law enforcement, security and loss prevention, and corrections. Students will also be prepared to enter college and pursue law-related careers in law enforcement, parole, and probation.
Therapeutic and Diagnostic Services – The program introduces students to the various occupations in the health care field, as well as to a basic understanding of the therapeutic rehabilitation and diagnostic process. Students apply knowledge of the human body, medical terminology, basic patient care procedures, and communication skills necessary to assist clients in a variety of health care facilities. Successful completion of the entire program enables individuals to continue their postsecondary education in rehabilitative therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, sports medicine, and other physical fitness/therapeutic careers.

Program Title: Academy of Health and Human Services
Applications accepted for students entering 9th grade from all attendance areas. Transportation is provided for students zoned to attend Southwest or Northwest area high schools, as well as Dulaney or Towson High School.
