Multi-Age Grouping
Students work in flexible instructional groups, as well as in grade specific groups, for a significant portion of each day. This type of grouping allows children to learn at their own pace along with other children having similar interests and academic abilities. Classes are structured heterogeneously, including diverse abilities and ages, and use an integrated curriculum and authentic learning experiences.
Older and younger students work together, enhancing the academic abilities and the socialization skills of both. Younger students benefit from working with experienced older students. Older students are able to take on roles involving leadership and increased responsibility. Small subgroups of students in need of the same type of instruction also meet at certain times of the day.
Students complete all requirements of the Baltimore County Public Schools’ curricula.
